Anyone who works around their yard or has a furry pet will immediately recognize these tenacious seeds! In the case of a burdock or stickseed caught in hair or fur, use common tools to remove a dry seed pod. By smashing the burr it is much easier to remove. Gather:
flat head needle nose plier
metal comb
container to hold crushed burrs
Take the pliers and crush the pod thoroughly. Once the burr is completely broken apart, gently use the comb to remove small pieces. If after crushing the pod it is difficult to remove bits from hair or fur use a little conditioner.
